Hi, community!
I want to announce to you one initiative that
Avanzosc
and
I have launched
today: a crowdfunding campaign to migrate and enhance
modules that extend manufacturing features of OpenERP. We
have called it with the original name OpenMRP :p
Our intention is to maximize the manufacturing functionality
of OpenERP, one of the pendings, and promote it as a real
alternative for this unexplored business sector for
open-source ERPs. With that intention, Avanzosc started two
years ago the project for the version 6.0. It was a huge
improvement over the existing functionality on standard MRP.
There is also a port for version 6.1. You can find both
under the
Launchpad project
OpenMRP.
But since then, OpenERP has evolved, and there are some
areas where the difference is big (for the interface, for
example, OpenMRP was designed with GTK client in mind), and
there is a great lack in other areas, like documentation. So
I have joined Avanzosc with the purpose of increasing coding
quality, applying best practices, improving usability and
enhancing integration with the rest of the apps. That's why
we have raise this campaign, to assure enough resources to
perform these tasks completely and with the best possible
quality.
Obviously, all of this without losing the open source
nature. The final goal of the project is to add it to the
community repositories, but for this, we need to do a lot of
work before (tests, code according guidelines,
documentation, etc).
So in this occasion, I ask you to collaborate with this
initiative at least with the minimum quantity to allow us to
achieve the goals, or if you can't or if you are not
interested, just helping us to spread the word as much as
possible (making RT of our
tweets, posting on
blogs, etc). You know, a little from many, it's a lot.
This is the link for the crowdfunding project: [

you want to stay tuned, we invite you to follow @openMRP [

where we will publish all the announcements and news about
this exciting project that we would like to success in short
time.
Thank you very much in advance.
Regards.
