https://openupgrade-server.readthedocs.org/en/latest/ I used this to upgrade from 6.0 to 6.1 It is a fork of the OpenERP server with the old migration functions restored and a set of module migration scripts. It has some hints for writing your own scripts but I don't see any indication of scripts existing for v7, let alone v8.
