I stumbled upon this same error when trying to start the stable 6.0.3 server on my laptop on Ubuntu 11.
I have OpenERP installed on a Debian Squeeze server that work fine but I wanted to debug a module we've developed for our-selfs so I wanted to make the same code run on my laptop. I've found this bug report when looking for solution and I just want to post here what solved the problem for me: installing the myssing python-vobject package solved the problem. However the server chokes on having unmet dependencies for the CRM module. The dependencies where not required (apparantly) before this.
