A generic fix was developed and merged to stable at 4226 [email protected] for a subsequent OPW case 572856 and LP bug:434266. So no need of doing all this hecking around for setting the lang in the context. If there is no lang in the context the logged in user lang will be set. so apparently your issue should be fixed with the latest version.
