Hello,

Considering, the template engine, my first tough was Genshi but with after a
second tough and some prototyping, I'm not sure this is the best solution.

As powerful, fast and strict it can be, Genshi is not polyvalent enough,
because it can only read and produce XML/HTML document.
In OpenERP, we probably do not want to produce only XML based output.

Imagine a module like powermail that can't use text output…

It is true that Relatorio use Genshi, and it will probably be a dependence of
the new OpenOffice report engine.
But Genshi syntax is intend to be use inside OpenOffice document and should not
be exposed to developer or end user. It is just a dependence.

So my point is that for all file that end user or developer should edit outside
OpenOffice, we should use a more polyvalent template engine like cheetah or
Mako.

But I must admit that it goes against the unification needs.

I'm waiting for your opinions.

Regards

Nicolas
