Sorry for the cross post, but I wanted to get more people considering bug report [1]. The bug attaches a patch which makes OpenERP consider user's 'uid' if there's no context available for providing the appropriate translation.
This is specially important because workflows have not been fixed yet and still do not propagate context, so any exception that occurs in the execution of the workflow will always be shown in English. Please, take a look at it if you considre it appropriate add your votes there. It's been considered a wishlist, which is pretty hard to explain to customers.
