For me, there is another solution : the production lot should be set only when the user process the move. Thus, the production lot is set according to the reality.
For me, the OpenERP processing of a picking is made after the real life processing of it. So, user knows which lots are moved. It's a mistake to set a lot before the processing because a same lot can be set to different moves without control of the stock. This can make mistakes. This is just my opinion about the lot management on stock moves.
