Hi,
I installed the Openfiler software on an IDE HDD first. Then i updated the kernel from 2.6.9-22 to 2.6.9-34 to compile the drivers for the 3ware 9550SX SATA-2 Controller. I ran the "yum update", and it started to give me the errors. Then i ran the entire system update on Centos by running "up2date --update".

I will open the ticket and attach the required files.

Hi,
I have installed Openfiler 2.0 B1 with RAID 5 using 3WARE 9550SX controller. The following are the problems i am facing.

did you do any custom settings / changes during the install stages ?

1. "yum update" gives me the following error.

http://manage.openfiler.com/repo/Null/os/i386/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 4] IOError: HTTP Error 404: Not Found
  Trying other mirror.
Cannot open/read repomd.xml file for repository: base
failure: repodata/repomd.xml from base: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try. Error: failure: repodata/repomd.xml from base: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.

at the very least you have broken the core package set for openfiler!! can you create a bugreport on https://project.openfiler.com/tracker/newticket and attach the following files : anaconda-ks.cfg, install.log and install.log.syslog
these files will be in the /root directort of openfiler.

Is there anything i need to change in the Firewall for this update to happen?

your firewall seems to be ok, but the install has not gone through properly. so either you have changed something on the machine, post install via thirt party repositories or the install didnt work properly.

we dont support up2date, actually - I'll make sure its removed from the next release we do.

from what i can make of it - you seem to have messed up the yum.conf file.

and updating against the centos repositories will break your openfiler box. openfiler is based on centos - but is not the same as centos!

Hi,
Thanks for the prompt response. I re-installed Openfiler and followed the procedure. "yum update" worked well. It joined the ADS and showed all the users and groups. The rights worked correctly, except that it did not show the correct users in the groups, whcn i clicked on them. I have faced another problem with openfiler.

I installed the driver for 3ware 9550sx and activated the RAID 5 configuration for the additional storage. All the shares and rights worked correctly, until i restarted the server. It did not accept the 3ware Drivers on bootup and hence the new storage drive wasn't visible. Once i ran "modprobe 3w-9xxx", it detected the drive, but i had to recreate the volume groups and volumes. Once the shares were recreated and appropriate rights given, it did not allow any group to access other than the primary group. I also notices that the /dev/mapper/sharedevice for the 2nd storage had disappeared. The /dev/mapper/sharedevice for the primary ide was there and worked fine. Is there anyway i can recover the drive and shares again after the reboot. I am going the load the driver in the kernel at bootup. Is there a particular method i should use to update the 3ware driver?

Kishore
