Excellent job on the latest release of Openfiler 2.0 Beta 1.
Cheers... we spent many a long night pulling our hair out to get to this stage - with the unfortunate consequence that I'm now balding :)

 I have put
it in a semi-production environment on a Dell 2600 and so far it is
holding its own. I do have some questions that the docs do not address.
The biggest is concerning snapshots and what to do with them? I have
implemented a rotational schedule without sharing (I don't want the
users to use them), but how do I get to them to back them up or select
files from them for restore?
You need to share the snapshot for a user to access it. We've got M$FT volume shadow copy support now which means that CIFS VSS clients are able to see older versions of existing shares/folders/files in context (i.e right click on the folder/file and see/select/manipulate all versions of it in terms of the dated snapshots)

You've raised a valid concern however. We might consider implementing separate ACLs for sharing snapshots.....

I cannot delete them unless I delete the
entire scheduled rotation and I cannot access them without sharing, but
that feature is not available unless I selected it when I created the
schedule. So exactly what is the point in having something you do not
want to share and cannot even use?
Well the idea with the snapshots in non-sharing mode would be for backing up via a third party backup application. This would need to accessed/configured via custom scripts at the command line as the root user.

Maybe I missed something in the
docs? I also am wondering if you are going to provide for nic bonding
in the future
Yes full network device management, including NIC bonding support will be available in Openfiler 2.1 which will be available in a yum update package late Q206.

and the ability to tune the system via the administrative
web site (speaking of tuning using sysctl.conf features).
Such functionality will be available in Openfiler 3.0 which is going to be a rewrite using WBEM/CIM/SMI standards.. but that's still quite some time away.

  Again, thanks
for an excellent job.
Many thanks for your kind praise.
