There don't seem to be drivers for Areca's cards in either the
mainstream kernel or RHEL4 derived kernels. Their drivers do appear to
be open source though. Currently Openfiler does not ship with a
development environment (i.e., no compiler, etc.) , although we have
binary compatibility with RHEL4 and CentOS 4 being based on the same
codebase. So unless you want to get your hands dirty with CentOS 4 and
build a kernel RPM for use with Openfiler (or try using Areca's binary
drivers for CentOS), I suggest against using Areca's cards for now. I
have opened a ticket (#271) for its inclusion in our "unsupported"
kernel.
