Cool. But where do I download something I can install on my existing systems?

The port to rPath Linux is complete. Openfiler 2.1 has some nice new functionality and additions: 1) New filesystems: XFS, JFS and reiserfs filesystems now available (YMMV, read the small print, caveat emptor, all sales are final, no refunds ... you get the picture I'm sure ;0) ) 2) Updated kernel: 2.6.17 - with support for recent disk and network controllers 3) iSCSI authentication: CHAP authentication support now available for iSCSI target volumes (so you can lockdown with username/password as well as network ACL) 4) ATA-Over-Ethernet: AOE client tools and a kernel target module (configuration support to come in future OF release) 5) Minor tweaks: configurable LDAP user suffix for ldapsam authentication, SMB default domain support (allows logging into DAV/HTTP shares without the domain component in the username if authenticating againt PDC/Active Directory) The move out of Beta 1 to final should be very swift this time round (days rather than weeks). You may download a Vmware Image of 2.1B1 here: http://www.rpath.org/rbuilder/project/openfiler/release?id=5042 ISO images and x86_64 build to follow in the next few days. Full release notes will also be made available once the ISO has been spun. Please feel free to use the mailing lists and support forums (http://www.openfiler.com/community/forums) for support requests regarding this release. I'm sure (very) many questions abound regarding migration from CentOS. I'll be happy to answer your questions in good time, but right now resources will be focused on polishing up release 2.1 so please ask away - but don't expect immediate responses :) Download the Vmware image and give it a good bash (or ksh/zch/tcsh if you're so inclined). Enjoy! R.
