Folks, I´m trying to install gcc, g++ et al to enable me to compile netatalk & dmraid for my particular environment.
Under the old rpm system, this would have been a piece of cake, and I actually probably wouldn´t have needed the compilers, as both packages exist in rpm format already .... I managed a conary update gcc, all apparently went well, but I get a ´compiler cannot create executables´ error - not good! Tried conary update g++ - zilch :( So, what does one do? Is there really no way to get software outside the standard distribution onto the box? Alternately, is there any other download source for an older version of OpenFiler, as I believe it used to be a CentOS base, which definitely has some expansion capabilities ;} cheers -- john in sydney p.s. Contrary to the website, netatalk does *not* just provide legacy Apple protocols, but also afp 3.x (under netatalk 2.x), which amongst other things gives OS X users the ability to store native Network Home Directories, a very much alive protocol, in fact!
