I'd consider vmware to be a special case, since it isolates
all of the software on the guest machines.  You can even be
running windows there without any conflicts with the
host.  It could be a very nice combination for a small
office since current servers normally have more than enough
CPU power for a file server.

It might be interesting to see if making guest drives
connect via iscsi to the OF host is more efficient than
the stock virtual disk format.
