Software Raid Troubles Revisited
Please take a look at this thread in the forums, I am grub.conf
http://www.openfiler.com/community/forums/viewtopic.php?t=272
I tried to help some other people hoping maybe in discussing it with
them I'd find a solution as well. Any idea how to rectify this ?
summary:
I can't create a second software raid after creating the first. I
tried the fixes I found in t the forums by searching however none of
those seem to rectify .
In after thought I had to clean out the meta data to create the first
array, I tried to do it to create the second one and it didn't work. I
have tried this now on a seperate box several times with the same
results.
Can anyone help me ?

Are you asking if virus protection is incorporated into the Openfiler
project?
The short answer is no, although it should be possible in theory to
stack a ClamAV VFS module onto the Samba service (which is the only
real access method that would greatly benefit from it. I'd assume
this would chew up a decent amount of horsepower so don't try doing
this with your PIII 1GHz Openfiler box.

I think, that's exactly that what he asked for... But in case you're using OF
in a production environment, it should be cleared, that all clients are using a
antivirus tool and a most recent virus definition... Also the fact, that the
only implementable access mode for instant virus scanning would be smb, it's
more or less useless... ;) Or better: No one needs it really...

Tim

Hi everybody,
Mod_ftp is not stable and the problem, in my oppinion, will not be
solved in next months. This bug was reported in version 1.1 or 1.1.1 one
year ago.
I think there are 2 solutions:
1.- Disable FTP access untill the mod_ftp bug was solved ==> Less
features, sales, $$.
2.- Use another FTP server (ProFTPd,wuFTP,...) ==> development , time, $$.
What do you think?

Hi
Yes, I'd like to see something more substantial than the current
offering and my vote would go for vsftpd. I don't know how easy vsftpd
would be to manage in the openfiler set-up but I currently use webmin
for management on my other servers servers.

Bill
