i find it odd how Network World, a (near-twin) sister pub of eWeek, a few weeks
ago did an article dedicated to FreeNAS (a great "easy" to setup open-source
NAS platform) then a week later did a "10 storage apps you need to know about"
article that included FreeNAS (among others):

http://www.networkworld.com/news/2007/022207-free-storage-utilities.html?zb&rc=mgmt

then in an article review of the lastest rev of most robust virtualization
platform in existance today, VMWare, because the reviewers *had* to use an
iSCSI SAN since they didn't have FC hardware, they mention OF in name only,
then go on to recommend using "approved" hardware.

nobody can fault them for this article as it is 100% accurate. however, when
taken in the conext of the attention other open-source projects in this space
and the lip-time they get by ZD, it's hard to not draw outlandish ideas of
collusion :-P

anyway, what's the haps out in Xinetopenfiler these days ?
