Hi, Chandra

Creating physical volume indeed takes time while creating volume group shall be quick. I am not sure about your problem. Openfiler is a control layer which hides the detail of various software components. If an lower-level operation is not allowed to proceed, the exact reason may not be manifested on to the higher lever.

Check logs at
/opt/openfiler/etc/httpd/logs/error_log

or do an update to openfiler using
conary updateall

Hi Yang Ye,

Thanks for your reply, I checked but there is no mkfs. process running (Does this process run when the physical volume is created or when the "volume group" is created? Anyway I have attached a screen shot of where I am struggling. Clicking on the 'Add volume group' does not seem to do anything even after a few hours (an hourglass appears for a few seconds but that is it)

Hi,

It is not clear which step/stage you have gone through.

Please login into the server and see whether there is process like
mkfs.???? running behind. With large volume, it takes time to create
file system.
