Subject: [OF-users] GUI makes smaller VG than specified

Hi all,
I've also posted this to the forum, but maybe the list will respond sooner ;)
This is my issue:

I have a HP DL320s with 3.5TB storage. I have made 2 VGs; a 500Gb and and a 2Tb. The partition is marked as GPT.
So far all is well.
On the partition I have roughly 1Tb unallocated space left, which I want

to use to make another VG.

The gui displays this:

/Edit partitions in /dev/cciss/c0d1 (897722 cylinders with "gpt" label)

Device Type Number Start cyl End cyl Blocks Size

    Type Delete
/dev/cciss/c0d1p1 Linux Physical Volume (0x8e) 1 1 514007 2097146863 2000.00 GB Primary In use /dev/cciss/c0d1p2 Linux Physical Volume (0x8e) 2 514007 642510 524291072 500.00 GB Primary In use

Create a partition in /dev/cciss/c0d1

You can use ranges within the following extents:
Mode Starting cylinder Ending cylinder Space
Primary 642511 897722 993.03 GB
/

So, I select the settings as they are displayed here as I want to allocate all remaining space to the vg.
If I hit Create, however, I am presented a much smaller vg:

/
Edit partitions in /dev/cciss/c0d1 (897722 cylinders with "gpt" label)

Device Type Number Start cyl End cyl Blocks Size

    Type Delete
/dev/cciss/c0d1p1 Linux Physical Volume (0x8e) 1 1 514007 2097146863 2000.00 GB Primary In use /dev/cciss/c0d1p2 Linux Physical Volume (0x8e) 2 514007 642510 524291072 500.00 GB Primary In use /dev/cciss/c0d1p3 Linux Physical Volume (0x8e) 3 642510 718179 308726887 294.42 GB Primary Delete

Create a partition in /dev/cciss/c0d1

You can use ranges within the following extents:
Mode Starting cylinder Ending cylinder Space
Primary 718180 897722 698.60 GB

/

So, question is, how come the gui makes a 294.42 GB vg in stead of a much larger 993.03 GB hmm
Does this look familiar to anybody?

Thanks
Patrick
