2) Under Volumes --> Block devices--> there are 3 entries
i) IDE -- 80Gb
2) SCSI -- 500 gb
3) SCSI -- 500 gb
For (2) it does not allow to partition. Under view it shows one partition but type is missing and no option to delete.
Your help is apprecaited

The 2.3RC installs the wrong default kernel on some hardware
configurations. Check out this thread from the forums for the workaround:
