Hi,

Can anybody please explain to me the actual purpose of group tables in
openflow protocol. I have few ambiguities related to group tables
a. Why can't we put all actions of individual buckets to constitute one
larger action set. For example, suppose we have 4 buckets and each bucket
contains 3 actions.
Why we don't make single action set containing total of 12 actions?
b. If we talk about the group type of 'all' (used for multicast/broadcast),
why can't we simply forward to some reserved virtual port which can handle
broadcast?

I know that above 2 points might be straight stupidity but please be patient
as I am newbie :). Any help will be highly appreciated.

Regards
