2)I'm sure I'm late to the game on "virtual-port" discussion but I see in OpenFlowMPLS, OPEN-MPLS, and the v1.2 proposals page that there is the idea of adding the ability to create virtual-ports. Is this going to be in the
next version of OpenFlow?


Just to clarify, the OPEN-MPLS work does not add virtual ports to the switch. There is a concept of virtual-ports that signify tunnel-interfaces for MPLS-TE tunnels. But it exists only within the controller to make life easier when implementing TE features. The switch (OVS) is completely unaware of the existence of tunnel- interfaces and virtual ports
and treats MPLS like any other flow (as per OF1.1).
One way to think about it is that the controller 'layers' a virtual- port abstraction on top of the switch's flow abstraction
