Chandana,
Please try the following:
1. Carefully follow our instructions for installation from source
2. Confirm that the mininet core (e.g. sudo mn --test pingall) works on your 
configuration
3. Confirm that you are correctly invoking miniedit.py (e.g. sudo miniedit.py)
4. Follow up on mininet-discuss if necessary
