Hey Luca, Many thanks for your reply! If i understand it correctly; the vendors do support OpenFlow, but are not willing to adopt it completely. They support it as a plugin or as some fancy function. They are (for obvious business reasons) playing it off as a "researchers" thing, not suited for production networks. Correct? So Merchant Silicon in that sense gives us, the networking field, a device which is "open" and thus the full potential of OpenFlow can be implemented as how we see fit (without vendors telling us what we can and cannot do)?
