I don't know if the code of Onix will be downloadable and usable, since, as far as I know, Google is using it. Anyway ONLAB.us is releasing ONOS, a distributed SDN NOS based on Floodlight. The code isn't public yet but I hope a first version will be released soon. Anyway the site says that
you can ask for a demo.

It could be more reliable. It could be faster (due to having more hardware) or it could be slower (due to running Paxos all the time).
