Hello Everybody,

FlowVisor 1.4.0 has been released.
You can find the source at https://github.com/OPENNETWORKINGLAB/flowvisor
under 1.4-MAINT branch. Please refer to
https://github.com/OPENNETWORKINGLAB/flowvisor/wiki/Installation-from-Source
to install it from source or
https://github.com/OPENNETWORKINGLAB/flowvisor/wiki/Installation-from-Binary to
install it from
binary.

The following issues/bugs have been addressed in the 1.4 version:
    ** FLOWVISOR-229 : Don't destroy derby.log at startup*
*    * FLOWVISOR-215 : Configuration variables aren't documented*
*    * FLOWVISOR-214 : fvctl set-config with no arguments seems to succeed*
*    * FLOWVISOR-213 : fvctl set-config should let you set all configurable
variables*
*    * FLOWVISOR-212 : fvctl get-config should show all configurable
variables*
* * FLOWVISOR-243 : datapath description: append FV version info*
*    * FLOWVISOR-249 : NullPointerExceptions in UpdateFlowSpace*
*    * FLOWVISOR-208 : Flowspace rules should support ranges*
*    * FLOWVISOR-23   : slice names longer than 255 will break lldp*
*    * FLOWVISOR-42   : need to virtualize flow_mod priorities*

One of the highlights of this release has been that a high school student,
Darshan Thaker
from Saint Francis High School, Mountain View, CA, started understanding SDN
and wrote some test cases and solved a FlowVisor issue. I hereby encourage
everyone to work on FlowVisor and start understanding the concepts of SDN
in general and
slicing & virtualization in specific.

You can contribute to FlowVisor and begin by trying to solve any of the
bugs/issues which you can find under
https://github.com/OPENNETWORKINGLAB/flowvisor/issues?state=open
or start developing your own new features for FlowVisor or take ideas from
https://github.com/OPENNETWORKINGLAB/flowvisor/wiki/FlowVisor-Project-Ideas
For any questions, please do ask clarifications in this openflow-discuss
group.

Virtualization has begun, so until Virtualization...

Cheers
Sumanth
