HI Anil/Kamal,

As mentioned in my previous email I am using the Helium(old) model of the
plugin.

We have 3 observations:

1. There were no connection flaps

2. When sending flows at high rate, we see the EOS sending Role-Request
with 'NOCHANGE' role-type from the controller.

3. The EOS Listener is getting invoked multiple times for ownership
change event.

Thanks
Shuva

In Li, its part of the pipeline/ init-phase of a connection. I guess you are
using He.

Do you see from the switch a successful role-change. My best guess is that this
could be retries, when the role change is not successful.

Thx
Kamal

Hi Shuva,

Are you using helium plugin or lithium plugin?

In Helium plugin, we just send role request only on the time of connection, so
if there is no connection flapping happening, controller should not send the
role request.

Can you recreate this scenario with 1 switch, but installing 1K flows ?

Thanks
Anil

Hi Kamal/Anil,

I do observe role-requests and reponses being sent on the wire even in a steady
state , when there is no disconnection between the switch and the controller.
Could you please let us know if this is expected ? and also point out the
code-path that is triggering it ..

PFA the jpgs for the wireshark captures showing the ROLE_REQUEST and RESPONSE
messages, It's a steady state and no switch disconnections have taken place

I am testing basic provisioning of 10k flows across 15 switches on the
Helium(old) model of the plugin using the latest sfi_beryllium.

Thanks
Shuva
