swapping controller-dev list for openflowplugin-dev list as it's more 
appropriate for
this conversation.

I think your 170k flows/sec is probably a relatively good number.  in our 
smaller virtual
environment we are seeing ~120k for beryllium:

I think with just the two steps I gave below is all you need for install.  I 
don't think
you would get much different performance by tweaking the java mem allocation 
either.
