Hi Shuva,
I hope you remember Openflowplugin dev email discussions, attached the email

Subject: Re: [openflowplugin-dev] Migrating liblldp from controller project to
openflowplugin project
Thanks Arun for the heads-up. But could you please let me know why this move ?
Since lldp has nothing to do with Ofp.

Hello,
We are in the process of migrating liblldp from controller project to
Openflowplugin project.
The following sequence will be followed as part of this migration,
1. Add liblldp module to openflowplugin project
(https://git.opendaylight.org/gerrit/#/c/67051/ )
2. Migrate gerrit history from controller/opendaylight/commons/liblldp to
openflowplugin/libraries/liblldp
3. Modify packaging structure of liblldp in Openflowplugin (like change
package structure from controller to Openflowplugin, etc.,) and make
Openflowplugin modules point to ofp liblldp.
4. Modify genius, netvirt to point to ofp liblldp.
5. Remove liblldp from controller project.
Please let us know if you see any issues with the above-mentioned approach.
Regards,
Arun

All other things being equal, I'd like to see the groupId change, but probably
not the artifactId.

Hi OFP devs,
As a consumer of both OFP and liblldp I had a question, would projectId of
liblldp be changed as part of this activity? Note that am fine with either
approach, but wanted to know as such a change would require us to be prepared.
Regards,
Vishal.

Hi OpenFlow Plugin committers,
Do you have any objections to putting the LLDP code currently in the
controller project into OpenFlow Plugin. Anil and I have voiced opinion that it
is OK to add it to OpenFlow Plugin. If no valid objection comes up till Monday
- we can consider it as a go ahead.

It just seems easier to me to put the code in OpenFlow plugin than to
pull a new project out of a hat that somehow doesn't behave like normal
projects. If we can move it to OpenFlow plugin for now, that seems right.

I believe it was more of a library that could be used by any
project for LLDP protocol packets - even though it's currently used only by
OpenFlow Plugin. Hence we thought a central place would be better. Otherwise I
don't see much problem in putting it into OpenFlow Plugin.

I'm happy either way. The fact that lldp "is a protocol"
doesn't seem like a compelling argument for why it can't go in the OpenFlow
plugin project to me, but maybe I'm missing something.
Abhijit, is there something I'm missing for why it shouldn't
go in OpenFlow plugin?

Thanks! I take it the conclusion was that this
shouldn't be part of the OpenFlow plugin project?
The discussion leaned to a new project. I think moving to
openflowplugin would be easiest, but lldp is a protocol and doesn't make sense
to be there.

Hello TSC,
I have included the liblldp to the list of project
proposals. I would like to start the two week discussion.
This proposal is contingent on the plan to spin out
the liblldp project from the controller. The goal was to get this started so we
can get this started if we wanted it in for the nitrogen release.
Thanks, Sam
