Unfortunately I can't use touch because I'm Windows but there are some options
(see
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/51435/windows-version-of-the-unix-touch-command).
The actual limitation for me is that I can't change the file timestamp since
everything is read only. I'll give Bruce's suggestion a shot.
