Hi,

I am new to OpenGrok (and Tomcat) and I have a question. I have got everything setup and the source indexed, etc. and things are awesome. But whenever something crashed (out of memory etc.) I lose the index database and I need to reindex from

that shouldn't happen, seems like some misconfig - do you use OpenGrok script to do the reindex ? what port is the webapp listening to? (any firewall in place on localhost perhaps?)

scratch. (or at least that's the only way I know how to restore the service right now.) Given that my source takes like 8 hr to index, I would like to avoid doing that. Is there an alternative? Did I actually lost the index or just a connection to it? I tried restarting the webapp from tomcat but that didn't make a different. I am using the 0.11.1 on Unbuntu 12 with tomcat7.

I would doubt you lost the index, I think the problem is between reindex process and sending the configuration over to tomcat ... (the reindex log should mention any problems at the end of it ...) obviously there could be more hypothesis, but this is what I get from info I have ;)

afaik opengrok after an OOM just continues to index, worst case you loose the file which caused the OOM (e.g. huge jar file, saw it on jar files > 200MB (with default OpenGrok script heap) )

hmm?
