(Jim Self has me learning M) and minding my own business but this I
can't let go by...

I may be a tad doctrinaire but I would not mention John Ousterhout
in the same breath with Stallman.  Unless I was quoting RMS on the
subject of tcl/tk.  His views are characteristically succinct and
colourful.  

I appreciate Horst mentioning perl earlier...one aspect of perl that
is not "relevant" but I find appealing - is its embodiment of the 
'personal is political' aspect of OSS ---
I refer to the sense of community.  The folks on the DBI
mailing list in particular are very slow to respond with "RTFM"...

I'd better quiet down and get back to MUMPS...what a language.  ;-)
