Here is an ad for an April 23, 2001 free web-cast to discuss HIPPA issues, organized
by The Journal of Health Care Finance. While any decent medical software should, at a
minimum, be HIPPA-compliant, it is still a good idea to run down the checklist!
For those who cannot tune in, would you like a summary? If there is sufficient
interest, I will produce one.
Best regards,
Andrew

>From James Unland, Editor, Journal of Health Care Finance:
The Journal of Health Care Finance, published by Aspen Publishing, has been
highly interested in HIPAA, and as Editor, Ive been able to arrange to
host-moderate a special Internet live, interactive audio-with-slides
broadcast from a studio in Chicago on April 23rd (2-4 pm Central daylight
time) to discuss HIPAA with experts, have experts answer questions, and
exchange information and views given recent developments in the HIPAA
privacy area. There will be no fee to tune in We expect to have a
number of people on the air with us who are highly knowledgeable, and
their purpose is not to lecture you but to give useful
information/clarifications, and to answer questions. This is not a lecture
or seminar. One of the main reasons Im doing this is because there have
been too many HIPAA lectures and not enough forums for questions from
rank-and-file healthcare professionals:
-- The program will take place live on the Internet from 2 pm - 4 pm
Central Daylight Time. It is not a teleconference it is a much more
sophisticated event, Internet-only. If you participate you will receive
instructions on how to access this program, hear the audio and view the
slides.
-- We will be taking phone calls on a special toll-free number to be posted
before the program, much as would a radio talk program, and in addition,
(thanks to the Internet Television Network (www.intv.net) and WorldStream
(www.worldstream.com) who are, essentially, making this program possible),
there will be a number of interactive ways to participate in this program in
addition to just phone calls. More about that will be sent to you should
you decide to tune in.
-- There is no fee to tune in. Relax, we don't want your credit card
number, we are just trying to bring some clarification and, hopefully, some
meaningful guidance our of all of the HIPAA uproar.
-- Please understand that I have no editorial axe to grind on HIPAA, Im
just moderating this program, trying like everyone to understand where we go
from here as a health care industry.
-- Here's how to tune in. in order to gauge attendance for streaming
purposes, if you wish to tune in either to the live program or the
archived version (in case you can make the live version) please send an
email no later than Friday 11am central time to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
with the subject line as: April 23 Program and the message body:
Request Hyperlink. Again, please DO NOT EMAIL ME or Reply to this email
if you want to tune in, instead use the above email instructions. Your
email address will not be given out, the emails are for this purpose
specifically.
-- Im still open to anyones expertise, and so if you or someone you know
has in-depth HIPAA expertise, especially on the Privacy section and the
implication of recent events, then please do feel free to email
me privately
and directly at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and well do our best to include you.
We are going to be in a very sophisticated studio and can patch in by phone
anyone anywhere with good sound quality, to be on the program.
Again, this is a free, no-cost event and probably the only time we can pull
this off for no fee, thanks to the Internet Television Network and
WorldStream who are producing this and streaming the broadcast for the
Journal of Health Care Finance.
