I will take a look at Jabber and compare it to SOAP, etc. Another point that I was trying to make is that I don't even care what kind of XML documents we finally decide to transport. If Dave or Ignacio or Joseph wants to use RDF, that could work too. The idea is to set up a test-bed with an appropriate test application first. After that, we can experiement with different implementations etc. We can try Jabber, CORBA, SOAP, ... side-by-side if necessary to find out what works well. I really don't see the feasibility of a test-bed with real patient data as our first step. On the other hand, a test bed with real "projects" data may be possible.
