I hate popups and abhor extra clicks.

Really, we need to minimise the number of keystrokes or clicks that
are needed to make any program acceptably fast in teh consultation.

But remember that we are _very_ interrupted.  So after accepting the
modal dialogue box (application modal, since we have other things
running) we get distracted by another call on our time, then return to
a record which contains part of the notes of one paitnet, and part of
another...  potential for confusion really is there.
