Hi Folks This has got nothing to do with the anything much with the list Except to say: After 1,865 days my missus received a lung transplant at 0500 and she is doing fine.We got the call at 0100 on Monday morning and seeing it was my birthday I was quite surprised as I was only expecting a pair of woolly socks.
We got the Alfred Hospital at 3am and Jane was prepared for theatre for 5. I was under the impression that the operation was going to be a long one (12 to 14 hours) due to Jane's history of pluerodeces. (19) I rang at 2 to get the half time results and was told that the match was over & that she had been transplanted and was in ICU doing very nicely Alex (our 12 year old son ) and I drove off to the hospital. Jane was still on the ventilator but gave us the thumbs up sign when we walked in. Her skin colour was great.and her feet were warm an pink which made a change from the bluish tinge I had grown so used to. ( Oh Well looks like We will have to change the furniture again to ensure that she is colour co-ordinated with the decor) She had the breathing tube out at 4 and is sitting up taking sips of water. She is able to cough and swallow a pill. Though it is early days yet the team are very pleased with her progress and all her vital signs are spot on. So at this stage Jane is doing very well and as you will understand we are taking this on a step by step basis but we are all very pleased . One notable thing that happened was the RN asked Jane to take a deep breathe &hold it. which she did.- this is the first time she has been able to do this is 7 years. Anyway I am getting some brochures on a trip to Spain so that Jane can take part in the Pampaloma Bull run next year:-)) I also did a bit of Arithmetic and Jane has been on the waiting list for 1,865 days or 5 years 1 month and 1 day. I cannot praise the nursing & medical staff at the Alfred enough. They are highly professional , considerate and caring. Everything went smoothly. With all the recent horrors and sadness in the world Just wanted to let you know that in one small part of the universe there are some happy littlefish. So BIG SMILES ! BIG SMILES!! [EMAIL PROTECTED]
