>(In decidedly scholarly and measured fashion )
I guess the reason I was "scholarly and measured" is that, in previous postings, I have compared the open source movement to the efforts of Luther to popularize the Bible. The thing is that there is a great difference between autocratic Church dogma and the Constitution of the United States. Churchmen drawing and quartering Bible printers are straw men. Defenders of the Constitution decidedly are not. Patents are not, in and of themselves, evil. That is the reason for the W3C's agony. I suspect that the thing that will have the greatest immediate effect on open source will be the outcome of the W3C patent debate.
