I was of course aware of squishdot: http://freezope2.nipltd.net/carnall/hack1 but in my view the present extent of the zope documentation means that development times reflect a steep learning curve. Maybe it was ever thus in open source, but it was nice, sometimes, to be able to rough things up quickly without too much investment. I'd looked at PHP but in my view that is best for C programmers looking to migrate and zope's OO approach should in theory make maintenance easier.
