Title: Kaiser Permanente: Open source practice guidelines

According to this story in the NY Times (Jan 24) Kaiser Permanente has agreed, as the result of a court settlement, to publish its practice guidelines on the web.

Although one could argue that there is no shortage of guidelines out there, this will make available a very large set of high-quality, evidence-based guidelines produced through a "rigorous" process. I understand that Kaiser have also done significant work presenting their guidelines at the point of care i.e. making sure they actually get used.

As far as I know, Kaiser do not have any open source initiatives going. As one of the largest healthcare systems in the country, they should be a prime target for enlightenment.
