It is unfortunate that SNOMED is a proprietary system, and quite costly to use and maintain. IT is likely that many will stick to ICD coding systems and classifications systems. The recent compltetion of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS may mean that SNOMED may not catch on in the way it was expected.
