As a practical example, my company is using robust open-source components to deliver an affordable EMR system to the average doctor.

This is great news. So what is considered 'affordable'?

Well, obviously "affordable" is a subjective term. Relative to the mainstream market, our EMR solution is inexpensive. Since I don't want to use this list for price quoting, you should contact me off the list if you are truly interested.

We are using a number of Apache Foundation projects, RedHat Linux, Protege, XML:DB, etc., etc.

Currently, my company is developing an openEHR archetype modeler that will soon be released as freely available open-source code. I invite interested parties to get involved.

Will this modeler create archetype definitions in ADL or another
language?

We will make every effort to keep the modeler in sync with ADL. My intention is that the software will be capable of exporting the models in a number of formats (i.e. openEHR/ADL, HL7/CDA/Templates, & the internal format of Ethidium's EMR).
