Incorporation ------------------ The Board is waiting on the Canadian government for incorporation. It might be that some other government is so much quicker that starting now they will beat the Canadians to completion but this seems slightly unlikely.
The papers went in shortly before Joseph dal Mollin left for Italy and the Geneva meeting ...that was the 29th of October...the Corporations Canada website indicates that they have a large number of applications and that the average processing time is 6-8 weeks. Given the holidays there is likely further backlog.... Joseph will contact them tomorrow to find out the status. (this may not result in an update for some days more) The iBoD is keeping under consideration whether we need OSHCA incorporated in any other place, such as the EEC, and for any other reason, and when the answers to those questions are positive, will make it so. This was considered at the Los Angeles meeting, Yves Pandeveine gave an account of reasons why that particular incorporation might be useful and the iBoD have continued to bear it in mind. Problems in posting to the open-health list ------------------------------------------------------------ The Open Health list is hosted and administered by Minoru to whom we are � properly all thankful. Although it is clearly a meeting place for OSHCA members and others, OSHCA does not own or control it. OSHCA members should not feel they are responsible for any difficulties � with the OpenHealth list, and its operation is not part of the iBoD's responsibilities. We shall remember Dave Scott who was the listmaster until his sudden and untimely death. Lists in General ----------------------- All lists have owners, usually well-advertised. Problems with the mechanics of a list are best taken first to the owner, with as much detail as possible. The Board would be interested in any reports of persisting problems with the official OSHCA list, and are grateful, as should all members be, to the maintainer of it for his efforts. Enjoy your camping trip Ignacio, and read this when you come back in a week. Denial of Service ------------------------ This has been mentioned along with censorship. The Board is not aware of any user or would-be user being denied service or otherwise singled out. Given that some of the discussants are not able to post to the list, and that those who can post by definition do not have the problem this particular topic may not best be discussed using that list. � Perhaps the system administrators of the various systems concerned could be requested to tell us what the problem was when it is fixed. OSHCA-work list ------------------------ Linuxmednews asked if they could turn it off...the list was inactive for at least a year or more, redundant, and a heavy spam collector. OSHCA Main List -------------------------- The OSHCA list was created to facilitate the creation of the OSHCA community and has been managed so it does not compete with the openhealth list and fragment the community. The iBoD thank the hosts at LinuxMedNews for maintaining these services. OSHCA Hosting ------------------------ Horst Herb has kindly provided hosting for oshca.net. � For which, thanks. Development of this site proceeds slowly. It was used to support the December OSHCA 4 meeting, reports of which will be posted there. It is worth noting the size and complication of certain other sites, such as fsf.org and http://opensource.org/ in that the functions of the OSHCA site do not require enormous activity. Migration of the OSHCA.org domain and the resolution of confusion with the aged material on that URL requires incorporation (see above). Security ------------ Spam, viruses, malware and attacks have been at a high level in the Internet in recent months. This environment does affect the way in which server owners, users and operators do their work, including us.
