Our experience in Canada is similar to that in Australia...which makes me wonder whether a map of FLOSS acceptability would be an interesting project for someone. I recall Bud Brueger suggesting this many moons ago...but I digress. Thomas IMHO is absolutely right...unless there is a strong political or economic driver at the top, as in China with the issues re licensing and other countries re balance of payments and in Europe which in part sees FLOSS as an opportunity to break the dominance of US software companies. Focusing on selling open source at the top will be an uphill battle while ironically the rate of adoption "below the radar" is quite significant. Each country/region etc. has a path of least resistance the important thing is to focus on finding it. Thomas's comment is dead on, paying attention to political statements such as the recent one from Australia is misleading and for those who enjoy depression. Cheers, Joseph
