The OMG never finalized a spec, but did a lot of "spade" work. This work continues and extends as a joint HL7 and OMG work. People are invited to join this effort to come up with a robust RLS specification. As long as some folks from the CFH linking subcommittee is involved, it should be fine. But the CFH is not a standards body. Other specs are under consideration by this group also. The group can be viewed on yahoogroups as servicesspec, I believe. If we have a lot of diverse groups doing this we will fail the community in not providing interoperability as required by the NHIN.

Dave,

Correct, the Linking document I referenced from CFH only lays out the case for the RLS. Actual specs are still in discussion. I'm not currently a party to that discussion, which is taking place at the monthly meetings of the CFH Linking Subcommittee. As far as I know HL7 has folks in the discussion, but I can't tell you if the OMG spec is on the table or not.
