That would be a way to do it. Right now the plugin tries to reconnect till
it succeeds.

A way to do this, as long as the Shelf Manager is represented as an HPI
resource through an RPT entry and entity path, is for the plugin to mark the
Shelf Manager as failed when it loses connection and send a resource failed
event for the shelf manager. 

Pierre can talk more about how to do this from the ipmidirect plugin.
