Mohan,

Thanks for the explanation.

My .02:
It would probably be more 'standard' to put the hpitest software in a separate
project, with references both ways to show that openhpi is compliant. That
allows some other software to use hpitest to claim compliance also, and it
makes administration of hpitest simpler.

Replacing/updating saftest with hpitest software seems like it would make a lot
of sense, given the history. However, it would be nice if the name of the
project contained 'hpi' so that new people could find it more easily. I think
it is now possible to rename sourceforge projects (saftest->hpitest). Is that
true?

Andy

This is not the same as saf-test.
SAForum funded an effort to develop compliance tests for HPI. The tests
themselves are located in the saforum.org website. Now SAForum decided
to place it in the opensource. It is called hpitest. This is under
active development for a long time now.

saf-test and hpitest accomplish the same thing and they had few common
authors too. But saf-test has been dormant for three years or more now
(except a small bug fix). They differ in directory structure and the way
tests are created/executed. saf-test covered B.01 and part of B.02
specification, while hpitest covers B.01, B.02 and B.03 (without FUMI
and DIMI).

This brings an interesting question. If hpitest is not placed insid
OpenHPI, is it ok to place it in saf-test? hpitest could be parallel to
saf-test and we could change the front page to say hpitest is the new
active version. This will avoid the confusion of why there are two
different projects accomplishing the same thing.

Thoughts?

Mohan
