Just a note to those who use this list for valid purposes: We get quite a bit of spam sent to the mailing list. Fortunately, the list settings require that either the sender be a member of the list, or the posting is held for moderator approval. (So far, I'm moderating, unless someone else volunteers.) Because of these settings, I don't think any spam gets through, but please do notify me if any does.
Since we get 3-4 spams per day, I rely heavily on the subject line to tell me what's not spam. If the subject contains a bunch of special characters (which display as "??????" in my e-mail client) and no English-language text that could possibly be a real OpenHPI question, then I usually reject the e-mail without even looking at it. It would waste a lot more time to open each of these messages. The short summary is to use good subject lines, in English, if you send from a non-subscribed e-mail address.
