There are three shelf manager entities in the chassis. Two correspond to the
physical shelf managers. They are:
{ADVANCEDTCA_CHASSIS,1}{SHELF_MANAGER,0}{SHMC,0}
{ADVANCEDTCA_CHASSIS,1}{SHELF_MANAGER,0}{SHMC,1}

There is also a virtual shelf manager that owns the chassis-wide resources. The
virtual shelf manager is actually an application running on the active shelf
manager.
On my system this is the virtual shelf manager:
{ADVANCEDTCA_CHASSIS,1}{OEM_SYSINT_SPECIFIC,1}{SHELF_MANAGER,1}

I can see where this might be a little confusing.

This is what my chassis looks like.
(000):Virtual Shelf Manager:{S|RDR|CNT|RES}
(008):ShMM-500:{S|RDR|INV|RST|FRU|CNT|HS|RES|DIMI|FUMI}
(009):ShMM-500:{S|RDR|INV|RST|FRU|CNT|HS|RES|DIMI|FUMI}
(016):Shelf Resource:{S|RDR|INV|AN|CNT|WDT|RES}

The sensor #133 that reported your event is a chassis-wide System Event sensor
on resource 16.
(133): SENSOR_RDR ID=131205, Ctrl=1, EvtCtrl=RM, Tag=SYSTEM EVENT
Resource Id: 16, Sensor Num: 133, Tag: SYSTEM EVENT
(016):Shelf Resource:{S|RDR|INV|AN|CNT|WDT|RES}

Hi Michael,

How to identify virtual and actual shelf manager from the below statement?

>From Resource: {SYSTEM_CHASSIS,1}{SHELF_MANAGER,0}{SHELF_MANAGER,1}

Does virtual shelfmanager corresponds to standby shelfmanager?

Naveen,

I believe that the virtual shelf manager sends events from the HPI System Event
sensor #133 when something in the system configuration has changed.
You can login to the shelf manager and execute the command "clia sensor 20 133
-v" to see the details on the sensor.
You can also execute the shelf manager command "clia sel -v" and look at the
corresponding time stamps to see the what happened near that event.

Hi,

When I am doing some tests on my shelf, I am getting few events as shown below:

EntryId: 231
            Timestamp: 2013-05-10 14:30:35
            Event Type: SENSOR
            From Resource: {SYSTEM_CHASSIS,1}{SHELF_MANAGER,0}{SHELF_MANAGER,1}
              Event Resource ID: 45
              Event Timestamp: 2013-05-10 14:30:35
              Event Severity: INFORMATIONAL
              Event Sensor Num: 133 (85 hex)
              Event Sensor Type: OEM_SENSOR
              Event Sensor Category: STATE
              Event Sensor Assertion: TRUE
              Event Sensor State: STATE_ASSERTED
              Optional Data: OEM
                OEM: 7e

I am not getting how to understand the above event from resource
perspective(marked with yellow) as it shows 2 shelf manager's.

Regards
Naveen S
