I guess we're back to where we started then. Why do you want to do that?
If you want a tarball, why can't you just download a tarball? The
previous example of building as a normal user obviously isn't the
reason, since this flag won't let you do that.
An "--enable-cryptic-build-failure" flag doesn't seem a good thing to
distribute by default.
