Hearing that the libraries are falling by the wayside indicates a lack of 
interest in OpenID to me. 

Having paid to build a number of the libraries, it is disappointing that this 
is the current state (assuming your analysis is correct).

As I stated a number of times, I think OpenID 2.0 is the wrong product for the 
market and the Foundation may need to bite the bullet to move on to something 
that truly solves a broad set of customers.
