Hi Pat - We definitely will not be removing AX's extensibility in AX 1.1 - the ability to extend the schema is a very powerful and useful feature in AX.
At least in Yahoo's case (and I'm pretty sure that many other OPs feel the same way) - there are very commonly requested attributes that nearly every RP wants if they can get them. These attributes that were already defined in Simple Registration: Full Name, Display Name, and Email Address. To a lesser extent, age, gender, location, and avatar picture are also frequently requested. Given that requesting these attributes is a very common use case, I believe that AX at the very least should match Simple Reg and define a basic set of commonly used attributes. As it stands today, there is no standard attribute name for something as basic as email address.
