Hi Community,
we have to maintain a ZFS setup on Hipster, and we’re encountering
serious problems. We try to explain what’s going wrong now, and we
would be very happy if someone could bring us into the right
direction… Ok, that’s our problem: we have two systems with
OpenIndiana Hipster 2018.10 installed, patchlevel is Feb 2019. We are
encountering problems on one machine within one sub-dataset. The error
shows as follows:
```
root@zfs-2012:~# zfs list -r hdd-2012/replica
cannot iterate filesystems: I/O error <===========
NAME USED AVAIL REFER MOUNTPOINT
hdd-2012/replica 2,58T 37,4T 201K /hdd-2012/replica
hdd-2012/replica/imug-3 176G 3,83T 34,9G /vSphere/imug-3
hdd-2012/replica/smug-3 183K 2,00T 183K /vSphere/smug-3
hdd-2012/replica/zmug-3 337G 19,7T 51,8G /vSphere/zmug-3
```
The error concerns a sub-dataset, which is not listed here, and cannot
be displayed, but exists on the system in some way. This faulty
sub-dataset would look like this (if it could be displayed):
```
hdd-2012/replica/projects-3
```
The whole thing was meant to be a replication target for a second
hipster machine.
We cannot display the faulty datasets properties…
```
root@zfs-2012:~# zfs get all hdd-2012/replica/projects-3
cannot open 'hdd-2012/replica/projects-3': I/O error
```
… nor can we delete it with zfs destroy.
We did `scrub` the datasets pool - finished with **no** error. We cannot
see anything hardware-related concerning this error, and the machine
works, from what we can see, normal beside this.
Has anyone ever seen something like that or maybe an idea on how tho
handle this?
Any help would be highly appreciated! :)
Cheers,
Marianne
